10 Things We Do Not Like About Toto Asia
The Band Toto Asia
Toto was expanding its production facilities overseas and doing business in France, Germany, Indonesia, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the People’s Republic of China. The company believed that North America as a growth market for Washlet bidets and toilets, in contrast to its “base” markets of Japan and China.
Dhaniram Toto was recording Toto words to ensure the next generation could comprehend the words. Many words were replaced by foreign ones. For example dui, which was Bengali for verandah, was used.
Origins
Incorporated in 1917, 안전놀이터 순위 Toto’s early years were a mirror of Japan’s economic growth. In the early years of its existence, the company produced products to meet the demands of new, modern urban housing. To do this, it employed the first tunnel kiln in the country that produced ceramics in continuous flow. It also pioneered automation to allow production control, which allows for greater efficiency and a more consistent production.
The company began expanding overseas in the late 1980s to take advantage of new markets and sales opportunities. The company established the Cera Trading Company to import and market other products of other manufacturers to enhance its own line of sanitary earthenwares and plumbing fittings. This strategy boosted sales and increased the firm’s global market share.
In the 90s, Toto began focusing on research and development of water-related appliances. It also improved its distribution system to better serve its customers and increase profit. The company also employed the just-in time approach in its supply chain management and sales program. This led to a higher level of customer satisfaction.
Toto continued to develop toilet technology. The most recent toilet features a powerful, environmentally-friendly tornado flush. The company also makes use of recycled water in its production process and has a green procurement policy. Toto also manufactures bathtubs, faucets, and hand dryers with greater energy efficiency than typical models.
The first museum of the company was opened in 2015 and features exhibits about Toto’s iconic products and their development, its group companies (all having to do with ceramics) as well as the historical background of plumbing and products like bath units and, in a different gallery, Toto products sold around the world. The museum has bathrooms with a WASHLET as well as other toilet innovations.
Before forming Toto members of the group performed sessions for a variety of musicians. Keyboardist David Paich, drummer Jeff Porcaro, and guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather all performed on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs. They also played on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.
Discography
With a name like Asia you’d think that the group would be prog queens and kings but they’re actually a fairly straightforward rock group. The band was initially four members and released two albums that were self-titled in 1979 and 1980’s Armed to the Teeth. The group has a wide musical background, but their biggest success was in 1982 with Toto IV.
The album was a massive blockbuster but not without its difficulties. Record companies put the band on spot with the ultimatum “give us a hit record or we’ll drop you” and the pressure was on them to deliver. Luckily for Toto they delivered, with the aid of the smash single “Africa.”
Toto’s musical mastery is a result of their previous experience. Before forming the group, the band members worked as session musicians for artists like Boz Scaggs. Steely Dan and Seals and Crofts. Their distinctive sound has become the standard for the ’80s, and has influenced many contemporary artists.
The album begins hard with songs such as Running Out of Time or Unknown Soldier that show the band’s ability to write great AOR tunes that slowly creep into your head. The album also has some more mellow, jazzy tracks like The Little Things and Chinatown. The album closes with Great Expectations. This song blends folk and distortion AOR that could sound completely wrong but actually works very well.
After Toto IV the band’s fortunes began to decline. David Hungate left the band to pursue a solo career. The band had a variety of drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball was fired from the group in the wake of drug charges and the group continued to perform as a trio featuring Michael Porcaro and Steve Lukather.
Toto released Isolation despite the turbulence. It was not as well-liked as IV. The band was able to release an album that was chart-topping, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. This album marked Toto’s final lineup and the debut of Simon Phillips, a new vocalist.

Steve Lukather and Joe Williams have formed a strong colorful friendship that is thriving professionally on a global basis. In 2018 the duo celebrated 40 Tours Around the Sun with a hugely successful global tour. The album with the same name debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200. The band’s newest tour features their most popular songs and rarely-performed live deep cuts and some songs from Lukather’s and Williams individual catalogs.

Line-up
The album’s third, Turn Back, marked a return to the classic sextet format of the previous albums. It was a stronger, more constant effort with an edge that was more pronounced than Hydra. Its edgier sound reflected the maturation of the group and included drummer Bobby Kimball’s greater proficiency on the drums, as well as a more mature, confident vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. David Paich’s keyboard playing was also more sophisticated, sharper, and less derivative on previous efforts.
After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live performance in Amsterdam that was released as a two-CD set called Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. A new studio album followed just a few months later and the group embarked on a long-distance tour to promote it. During this time keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.
In 1998, Paich & Lukather began searching through old tapes & demos to find songs that hadn’t been recorded before. It was completed in 2001 as a duo album titled Then and Now. It was the first album by the band without the single track “A”. The album also contained a previously unreleased track “Kari-Anne”.
By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The group’s fourth album, Old Is New, was a commercial flop and vocalist Williams was suffering from a serious laryngitis infection which hampered his singing. In addition, Hungate returned to Nashville and drummer Leland Sklar was replaced by Shem von Schroeck.
Downes, Wetton Palmer and Howe, the original members of Asia were in England in the early part of 2006 to discuss the possibility that the group could be reformed. The lineup, which was minus Howe (who was busy with Yes at the time) was eventually referred to as Toto XIV and toured extensively.
In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band featured a special appearance by singer Michael McDonald and a backing vocalist named Mabvuto Carver.
